How Salts Mill, Saltaire appears
Screen Yorkshire lists Salts Mill among the Peaky Blinders production sites, used for period industrial interiors and the streets around it. The series is full of factories, workshops and warehouses that the story places in Birmingham, and the mill's long stone floors and the model village outside were a ready-made source of period industry. No single named character scene is pinned to the mill, so treat it as a place where the series' industrial world was built rather than a scene to recreate.
The real place
What you can visit
Salts Mill was built by Sir Titus Salt in 1853 and is the centrepiece of Saltaire, a UNESCO World Heritage Site model village. Today the mill houses galleries, including a large collection of David Hockney's work, plus bookshops, homeware shops and cafés. These public floors are free to enter when open; other parts of the building are offices and private. The village streets of workers' houses are lived in, so look from the pavement.
Saltaire's terraces are homes. Enjoy the village from public streets and the riverside park.
Screen Yorkshire: Peaky Blinders ↗Saltaire station is a few minutes' walk from the mill, with frequent trains from Leeds and Bradford. There is limited pay parking nearby. The mill has lifts to its public floors. Check opening hours on the mill's website.
