How Keighley and Worth Valley Railway appears
In series one, Grace Burgess, the barmaid working undercover for Inspector Campbell, faces him on a train in a scene that turns on loyalty and fear. It was filmed on the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway, a five-mile heritage steam line in West Yorkshire. In the story the railway is somewhere around Birmingham. The line's preserved carriages, stations and locomotives are kept in period condition, which is why film and television productions use it so often.
The real place
What you can visit
The railway runs steam and heritage diesel trains between Keighley, Haworth and Oxenhope, with stations at Ingrow, Damems and Oakworth in between. It is run largely by volunteers and operates on a published timetable, mostly at weekends and in holidays with more trains in summer. Tickets are bought at stations or online, and day rovers let you get on and off. The carriage used in filming is not guaranteed to be running on any given day, so enjoy the line itself rather than looking for a particular coach.
Stay behind platform edges and never cross the line except at marked crossings. Ask staff before photographing from the footplate area.
Netflix Tudum: Peaky Blinders filming locations ↗Keighley station connects with mainline Airedale trains from Leeds and Bradford, so you can arrive by rail. Haworth and Oxenhope have car parks. Some stations have step-free access and the railway can carry wheelchairs in suitable carriages; contact it in advance. Check the timetable before travelling.
