How Croxteth Hall appears

Arrow House, the country mansion Tommy buys as the Shelbys move up in the world, was never one building. According to the BBC's series three production notes, Croxteth Hall provided its upper floor, while Arley Hall in Cheshire gave the exterior and ground floor and Tatton Park the kitchens. In the story Arrow House stands in the Warwickshire countryside outside Birmingham. The real Croxteth Hall is the former seat of the Earls of Sefton, now owned by Liverpool City Council and surrounded by a large public country park.

The real place

What you can visit

Croxteth Country Park is open to the public and is a good place for a walk, with woodland, a walled garden and a working farm. The hall itself opens on a limited basis for events, tours and selected days, so you may only see it from the outside unless you time your visit. Check Liverpool City Council's Croxteth Hall page for current opening and any charges. Period dressing from filming has gone.

Check the opening calendar before travelling if you want to see inside; the park alone is still a pleasant stop.
