How Penmon Point appears
VisitBritain's north Wales film itinerary lists Penmon Point among House of the Dragon's second-season locations, used for the coastline of Westeros. The rocky shore, the channel and the low bulk of Puffin Island across the water make a convincing stretch of the Narrow Sea coast. The scenes are not tied to a named episode or a named fictional place, and the black-and-white Trwyn Du lighthouse is a landmark here rather than a known part of the set. In reality you are at the far eastern end of Anglesey, looking towards the mainland mountains and the Great Orme.
The real place
What you can visit
Penmon Point is a pebbly headland with the Trwyn Du lighthouse just offshore, its bell sounding in fog, and Puffin Island (Ynys Seiriol) across a narrow sound. There is a seasonal café and a car park at the point, reached by a private toll road; check the charge on arrival. Nearby are the remains of Penmon Priory and a dovecote, cared for by Cadw and free to visit. The shore is good for watching seabirds and seals.
Do not try to walk out to the lighthouse at low tide. The currents in the sound are strong and the rocks are slippery.
VisitBritain: North Wales film and TV itinerary ↗Penmon is about 15 minutes north-east of Beaumaris along the B5109 and minor lanes; the final stretch to the point is a narrow toll road. Buses from Bangor reach Beaumaris and sometimes Penmon, but a car or bike is easier. The pebble shore is uneven, and the point is exposed to wind.
