How Cambois appears

National reporting confirms that Brenda Blethyn and David Leon filmed in Cambois for Vera’s final series. The evidence supports the coastal settlement, without assigning an individual episode or a fictional building name. Cambois belongs to a different stretch of Northumberland from the castle-and-dunes imagery farther north. It helps explain how the production used ordinary coastal and industrial communities as well as celebrated beauty spots. This visitor stop stays with public shoreline access, leaving homes and operational sites outside the itinerary.

The real place

What you can visit

Cambois lies on the coast north of the River Blyth, in a landscape where open beach and industrial heritage sit close together. It is worth approaching it as a real village rather than expecting a managed television attraction. Public shore paths and the beach provide the reason to stop, while fences, yards and workplace entrances mark areas to leave alone. The openness also makes the weather very apparent: a sunny view across the sea can coincide with a cold wind. Bring what you need rather than relying on a concentrated resort-style group of facilities.

Keep this as a short coast stop within a wider Blyth-area day. A prepared onward journey matters more here than finding a precise screen angle.

Getting there.

The Northumberland Line provides a regional rail approach through stations such as Blyth Bebside, but an onward road connection is needed for this shore. Arrange a taxi or local transport before leaving the train. Use lawful public coastal access and signed parking where available. Avoid industrial entrances and residential parking areas; no private filming address is part of the visit.

St Mary’s Island offers another final-series landscape further south, with its own tidal restrictions. Tynemouth supplies a seaside centre and a Metro-based alternative.
