How Tatton Park appears

Tatton Park supplied the kitchens of Arrow House, Tommy's country mansion, in series three, according to the BBC's production notes. The story sets Arrow House outside Birmingham, and the rest of it was filmed at Arley Hall (exterior and ground floor) and Croxteth Hall (upstairs). Tatton's kitchens and servants' areas are among the best preserved in the North West, which made them a natural choice for the working heart of a grand 1920s household. The Arrow House kitchen was filmed here, not at Arley.

The real place

What you can visit

Tatton Park is a 1,000-acre deer park around a neo-classical mansion, with formal gardens, a Japanese garden, a Tudor Old Hall and a working farm. The park is open for most of the year, and the mansion, gardens and farm are ticketed attractions with their own opening patterns. The mansion's below-stairs rooms can usually be seen as part of a house visit, but the exact kitchen spaces used for filming are not guaranteed to be open on every day. Check the estate's website for opening and current prices.

The park is big. Drive or cycle to the mansion area and leave time for the gardens.

Knutsford station is a short walk from the park's Knutsford gate, but the walk across the park to the mansion is much longer. Paths are mostly surfaced.
