How Queen Square appears

Queen Square becomes the fictional Russet Street in London for Rivals. VisitBristol identifies Maud's scenes in series one, episode five, Freddie's Sinclair C5 sequence in episode six and Tony and Cameron's night scene beside the William III statue in episode seven. Those separate moments make the square especially useful for a screen walk. They also show how one real public space can support different parts of the story through temporary signs, dressing, vehicles and the choice of filming time.

The real place

What you can visit

The real square is a Georgian park between Bristol's centre and Harbourside. Its public paths and open space offer a different pace from nearby Corn Street, while the surrounding buildings remain occupied city premises. The William III statue provides a permanent landmark for the documented night scene. Fake road signs and newspaper stands used to create Russet Street were production additions, not features that visitors should expect to find. Enjoy the park as it is now, keeping other users and neighbouring entrances in mind when comparing a screen image with the actual space.

Use the statue and the layout of the square as your fixed references. The fictional London street name and 1980s props belonged to the shoot rather than the permanent park.

Getting there.

AccessAble names Bristol Temple Meads as the nearest National Rail station and provides a dedicated guide to the square. Use that information to choose a city-centre walking route suited to your group. Queen Square is a public park, so an ordinary visit does not require booking a television tour. Drivers should park in an authorised city space rather than stopping beside a preferred view.
