How Aerospace Bristol appears

Aerospace Bristol's Concorde was used for the supersonic-airliner sequence in the opening episode of Rivals. Bristol Film Office confirms filming aboard the aircraft, and VisitWest connects the museum's Alpha Foxtrot with the series one opening. The setting adds a particular piece of the 1980s world to a route otherwise dominated by towns, houses and television offices. It is a real museum aircraft, not a surviving passenger service, so the visitor experience is about aviation history rather than recreating the fictional flight.

The real place

What you can visit

The museum is beside the historic Filton Airfield in the northern Bristol area. Alpha Foxtrot is the last Concorde to have flown, giving the aircraft significance beyond its production use. The exhibitions place it within Bristol's wider aerospace history, and the museum also describes conservation work and other engineering interests. Allow enough time for that broader visit instead of treating the aircraft as a single photo stop. The museum publishes access information, which is especially useful when deciding how the aircraft and exhibition routes work for different members of a group.

Give this museum its own portion of the day. It is north of the Old City filming walk, so transferring between the two is a real journey rather than a short stroll between street scenes.

Getting there.

Bristol Parkway is the nearest major railway station named by the museum, around 2.1 miles away. Its travel page lists the Y6 towards High Leaze Road and the 75 from the city towards Gipsy Patch Lane, with a final walk from the stop. Drivers use the Hayes Way entrance and the museum's own arrival directions, because its postcode does not identify the gate precisely.

Which station should I use?

The museum names Bristol Parkway as its nearest major station and publishes onward bus directions and final walking routes.

Plan your visit

Build it into the day.

Berkeley Castle offers a contrasting Rivals location on a wider northern regional outing. Alternatively, keep a separate Bristol city day for Queen Square, Corn Street and a restaurant visit.
