How Predannack Wollas appears

Predannack Wollas is one of the places where Ross gallops along the clifftops, the long open coast of heath and grass giving the camera an uninterrupted horizon. In the story these rides belong to the country around Nampara on the north coast; the real cliffs are on the west side of the Lizard, south of Mullion. There is no single fictional place named here, so it is best treated as part of the riding scenery that the production assembled from several Cornish headlands.

The real place

What you can visit

Predannack is a quiet stretch of National Trust coast with coastal heath, wild flowers in late spring and summer, and grazing ponies and cattle that help manage the heath. The South West Coast Path runs along the cliffs, with views north to Mullion Island. The land inland of the path is farmed, so stick to signed routes and leave gates as you find them. It is far less busy than Kynance and makes a good walk when the beaches are crowded.

Keep to the signed path and do not enter grazing fields; keep dogs on leads near livestock and stay back from the cliff edge.

Getting there.

The National Trust car park is at Lower Predannack Wollas Farm, at the end of a narrow lane south of Mullion; from there a track leads to the coast path in about 10 minutes. Paths are grassy and uneven, with some muddy stretches after rain. Mullion village has shops, pubs and places to stay.
