How St Nicholas Market and Corn Street appears

Bristol's Old City supplied London streets for the later series. The streets around St Nicholas Market were used for the exterior of Ross's London lodgings, while the interior was a studio set. Bristol Film Office also lists nearby All Saints Church on Corn Street in series 4, and the small passages of All Saints Court and Tailor's Court in series 5. Their exact screen roles are not named, so treat them as part of the London streetscape. In the story all of this is Georgian London; the real streets are in the centre of Bristol.

The real place

What you can visit

The Old City is Bristol's medieval centre, with Corn Street's banks and exchange, the brass 'nails' outside the Exchange and St Nicholas Market, a busy covered market of food stalls and independent traders. All Saints Church is a historic church on Corn Street; check whether it is open before planning to go in. All Saints Court and Tailor's Court are narrow lanes with offices and homes, so look from the public way only. Market opening hours vary; check the market's website.

All Saints Court and Tailor's Court include homes and workplaces: look from the street only and don't go into buildings or private yards.
