About Greys Court

Greys Court provides a house, gardens and estate visit near Henley, with much more to see than one exterior. The National Trust presents it as a family home in a rural setting, with walled gardens and walking routes. The historical Midsomer southern trail identifies Rotherfield Greys as a filming village and introduces Greys Court as its major visitor attraction.

Use the National Trust’s current visitor information to plan access to the property. The photograph shows the main house, lawns and a gravel approach. A visit can follow those external views into the gardens or house, subject to the day’s opening arrangements. The Trust describes the house as a building altered over centuries, and the gardens as a sequence of spaces within historic walls.

Looking at how the house, old structures and garden compartments fit together is rewarding even without matching a television frame.

Visiting Greys Court

Check the National Trust property page for the current calendar, admission and any notices before travelling. The house, garden and facilities have separate listings, so choose a date that fits the part of the property you want to see. Collect the site map at reception and use it to decide how much walking to include.

The property’s access information describes partly accessible grounds and a journey between the car park and house. It also explains arrangements for visitors needing assistance with upper-floor access. Contact the Trust in advance if an aid or specific accessible route is essential; do not assume that a historic house can be visited in the same way throughout.

The estate includes livestock, so keep to the permitted routes and follow signs. Henley station is outside the property, requiring an onward journey. The Trust describes a walking approach from Henley but warns that its final section meets the main road outside Greys Court. Use its directions and a current map if choosing that option.

Motorists should use visitor parking for a booked or admitted property visit, rather than treating it as general parking for a village film-location circuit. A garden walk, an interior visit and a countryside approach are different activities, and the day works best when their practical demands are planned separately.

Plan your visit

Build this stop into the day.

Henley gives a riverside and town-centre contrast. Nettlebed or Rotherfield Peppard can add a public-village stop, but keep the National Trust visit as the main booked attraction rather than a hurried exterior detour.
