How New College Cloisters appears

New College’s cloisters and courtyard become Hogwarts in Goblet of Fire. The enclosed stone passages and distinctive tree frame the confrontation involving Draco Malfoy and his transformation into a ferret. The real college is in Oxford, while the scene belongs to the fictional school’s grounds. This is one piece of Hogwarts architecture among several Oxford filming places, rather than a complete school location. The magical transformation belongs to the effects and story, with the college supplying the actual architectural setting.

The real place

What you can visit

New College is a working Oxford college that opens to paying visitors at set times. The visitor route includes the medieval cloisters, with the large oak tree used in Goblet of Fire, as well as the chapel and gardens. Visitor hours are shorter in term time and can change around exams and college events. The cloisters are a quiet place of study and worship, so expect to keep voices low.

Check visitor hours on the day; in term time they are short, and the cloisters can close for college events.
