How Callendar House appears

Callendar House supplies the kitchen at Bellhurst Manor in season two. The kitchen is the focus of the connection, bringing a working domestic space into the world of the Duke of Sandringham’s household. Drumlanrig contributes the separate exterior and room settings associated with Bellhurst. The kitchen shows how the production combines interiors and exteriors from different properties into one apparent address. Approaching Callendar with that distinction in mind makes the domestic working space the point of interest, rather than a hunt for every room seen around the manor sequence.

The real place

What you can visit

The real house sits in Callendar Park at Falkirk and operates as a public museum. Its kitchen belongs to an actual historic building, with interpretation and museum activity offering context beyond its fictional role. The surrounding park provides a separate outdoor component, useful when arranging a longer visit to the house. Museum opening, room availability and programmed events determine what can be seen inside. The substantial façade may be impressive, but it should not be used as evidence that it supplied Bellhurst’s exterior simply because the kitchen was filmed within.

Make the kitchen the screen focus, then allow the museum to tell Callendar’s own story rather than reading every room as Bellhurst.

Getting there.

Check current museum and event information before travelling to Falkirk, and confirm kitchen access if that is your main reason for visiting. Park access alone does not establish that the house or the relevant room is open. Enquire about the museum circuit if access affects your visit, and use current local journey information to plan the approach through Falkirk. Treat demonstrations or interpretation as part of the real museum programme, following staff guidance.

Common questions

Planning a responsible visit

Is the whole house Bellhurst Manor?

The supported connection is the kitchen. Other Bellhurst exterior and interior material is associated with Drumlanrig. A production can join those places into one fictional house, but that does not make Callendar’s façade or every room a filmed manor location.

Where are the other Bellhurst scenes?

Drumlanrig Castle supplies separate Bellhurst exterior and interior settings. Callendar’s kitchen is one piece of that fictional household. The real places require different regional journeys, so enjoy the kitchen here without expecting to continue directly into every room seen around the manor story.

Can I visit the kitchen with the park?

Check the house and museum programme separately. A public park does not guarantee an open museum room, and events can affect access. Confirm the kitchen’s availability before making a special journey for the filming connection.

Plan your visit

Build it into the day.

Combine with a Falkirk visit or a planned Forth route; keep Drumlanrig as a separate regional journey despite the shared fictional manor.
