On screen
Thame Town Hall is a strong first stop because the filming connection and the visitor information come together in one building. Thame Town Council identifies it among the town’s repeatedly used Midsomer landmarks, and the regional destination guide records its appearances as Causton Town Hall and Causton Arts Centre.
Those changing names illustrate how the production builds its fictional county from real places. The council also places the Information Centre here, giving visitors a useful way to turn recognition into a coherent walking route. Start with the building’s exterior, then use the official trail to understand the surrounding town.
Visiting Thame Town Hall
Collect a Midsomer leaflet from the Information Centre during its opening hours, or download the council’s mobile-friendly trail before travelling. Thame Museum is another published leaflet pickup point when open. Rather than driving between central locations, use the walking route to link the Town Hall with the Market House, Cornmarket and other recognised stops.
The council describes several additional town trails, so you can extend the visit through local history or public art if another member of the party prefers those subjects. Check individual businesses separately: a trail location can be a functioning shop, hotel or pub with its own arrangements.
Plan your visit
Build this stop into the day.
The Spread Eagle is an obvious companion on the same town walk and offers the possibility of a booked meal or overnight stay. Rumsey’s and the Market House add different kinds of recognised screen frontage along the route. Long Crendon can be a separate village extension after you have finished in Thame, with its courthouse interior dependent on National Trust opening dates.
For a simpler day, stay in town and add one of the council’s historic walks instead of moving the car again.
