How Larrybane Quarry appears
Larrybane appears twice. In season two's What is Dead May Never Die, its grassy quarry floor and white cliffs hold Renly Baratheon's camp in the Stormlands, where Brienne of Tarth fights her way into his Kingsguard and Catelyn Stark arrives to negotiate. Four seasons later, in The Door, the same headland is the Iron Islands shore where the Ironborn gather for the Kingsmoot. In the story the two scenes are hundreds of miles apart, one in the south of Westeros and one off its west coast. In reality they are the same corner of the Causeway Coast, beside the car park for the Carrick-a-Rede rope bridge.
The real place
What you can visit
Larrybane is a former limestone quarry on National Trust land, now a grassy platform between the cliffs and the sea. The coast path from the Carrick-a-Rede car park passes above and through it, with views of Sheep Island and Rathlin. The quarry and coast path are free to see. Crossing the Carrick-a-Rede rope bridge itself is a separate, ticketed attraction with timed slots, booked through the National Trust; the bridge was not a filming location. The National Trust's Weighbridge tea room is by the car park.
Keep away from the quarry cliffs, which are high and crumbly, and stay on the path. The rope bridge needs its own booked ticket.
Discover Northern Ireland: Game of Thrones ↗Larrybane is at the Carrick-a-Rede car park on the B15 coast road, about a mile east of Ballintoy, postcode BT54 6LS. The car park is run by the National Trust and may charge. From the car park, the quarry is a few minutes' walk on a path with steps and slopes. Expect wind on the headland.
