On screen

A visit focuses on the house and its gardens. The stone frontage, clustered chimneys and elaborate gatehouse give a sense of the architecture behind the screen setting, while the watergarden provides a reason to allow more time than a quick exterior photograph. The estate's own description identifies a formal canal above the house, a cascade, terraced lawns, specimen trees and herbaceous borders.

Its gravity-fed fountain is a separate highlight within that garden landscape. A visit therefore works best as a house-and-garden afternoon, with the filming connection supplying context rather than determining every stop. Follow the permitted visitor route and keep any areas outside it private.

Visiting Stanway House

Plan around Stanway's published summer opening programme and check directly before travelling. The estate offers different admission arrangements for the house and fountain, so decide which parts you want to see before setting out. Fountain-only entry should not be treated as permission to explore the house.

The official visitor information lists parking for cars and coaches and refreshments in the tea room. For accessibility, telephone the estate in advance: its own advice explains that disabled visitors can see only part of the house. A garden visit and a house visit may therefore have different practical limits for your group.

Dogs are welcomed on leads. If arriving by rail, the estate names Moreton-in-Marsh, Evesham and Cheltenham Spa as the nearest station options; arrange the onward journey and return connection separately rather than assuming a station beside the entrance. During your visit, look at the buildings from the designated paths, then leave time for the formal water features and gardens.

The fountain and canal sit within a designed landscape, so seeing them in relation to the house is more useful than rushing between isolated viewpoints.
