How De Vere Horsley Estate (Horsley Towers) appears
Visit Surrey names the Horsley Estate and its towers among the county's filming locations for Call the Midwife. As with other Surrey sites, it does not say which scenes were filmed here or what the house played. The same tourism article describes the courtyard as an Egyptian market, but that belongs to a different production, so this guide does not claim it for Call the Midwife. What is clear is that the series has used the estate, one of several period buildings near its Surrey studio base. Any scene filmed here would be set elsewhere in the story, usually London or wherever the midwives' work takes them.
The real place
What you can visit
Horsley Towers is a striking Victorian house of brick and flint, remodelled in the 1840s and later for the Earl of Lovelace, whose wife Ada Lovelace is remembered as an early pioneer of computing. Its towers, cloisters and chapel are now part of the De Vere Horsley Estate, a hotel and conference venue set in parkland. There is no filming tour. The house is a business, so the way to see it properly is as a customer: book a room, a meal or afternoon tea. Events and weddings can take over parts of the building, so check with the hotel before you go.
This is a hotel and wedding venue: book before you go, and do not wander into function rooms or guest areas to recreate a shot.
Visit Surrey: film and TV locations around Guildford ↗The estate is on Ockham Road South, East Horsley (KT24 6DT), with parking for guests. Horsley station, on the line from London Waterloo to Guildford via Effingham Junction, is about a 15 minute walk. The hotel can advise on step-free routes through the historic building, which has some changes of level.
