How Hampton Court Palace appears
Hampton Court is an unusual Wolf Hall stop because it supplies a royal building connected directly with the people being dramatised. PBS identifies the Great Hall as a filming space for the second series and explains that it was not available for the first production. The real palace stands beside the Thames in Surrey, within London’s visitor orbit. That credit applies to the Great Hall, not automatically to every chapel or corridor carrying Hampton Court’s name in the finished drama.
The real place
What you can visit
Historic Royal Palaces operates a substantial ticketed palace visit, with Tudor and later rooms, courtyards and gardens. Allocate at least half a day if you want the wider palace rather than only the Wolf Hall connection. The historic tapestries and fragile interiors explain why a filming permission can be exceptional. Your admission follows the visitor circuit operating that day; it does not grant access to closed rooms or a production route. Garden events and conservation work can change what is available.
Judge the visit by the palace’s current room route, not a promise that a particular camera position is open.
PBS Masterpiece ↗Hampton Court station is across the bridge from the palace, roughly a ten-minute walk to the visitor entrance. Trains connect from London Waterloo. Drivers can use palace parking when available, but space is limited and the railway is the simpler arrival from central London. Opening continues through much of the year with dated closures; gardens and indoor routes may close at different times.
