How Minn Beach and Kettla Ness appears

Minn is one of the Burra beaches identified by Promote Shetland as a recurring location in the television drama. Its screen value comes from the coastal landscape rather than a house or controlled visitor set. The available account does not allocate a particular episode, so the guide keeps the claim at beach level. Do not confuse it with Meal, whose series seven filming is separately documented. A visit to one does not automatically include the approach or views of the other.

The real place

What you can visit

The beach forms one side of a tombolo leading towards Kettla Ness. That coastal shape gives the walk interest beyond spotting a television landscape. Promote Shetland's beach information describes a path from parking to the sand and onward to the headland, with seals and nesting birds among the wildlife interests. The same information asks visitors to keep to the edge of nesting grounds. Choose a route that allows birds space, rather than following them for photographs, and be prepared to shorten a walk when wildlife or weather makes that sensible.

Treat Kettla Ness as an optional extension, not a requirement for seeing the beach. Wildlife needs and conditions should decide whether you continue beyond the sand.

Getting there.

Use the beach car park at the southern end of West Burra and follow the footpath. The screen-location article describes a short walk of around 350 yards to the beach, while the onward headland route is a longer outing. Leave enough daylight for the return and do not block the road end. Wear footwear suited to an outdoor path rather than assuming a level paved approach.

Common questions

Planning a responsible visit

Is Minn the same beach as Meal?

No. They are separate Burra locations with different starting points and walks.

Can I walk beyond the beach?

A path continues towards Kettla Ness. Respect nesting areas and choose the length according to conditions and your group.

Which episode was filmed here?

The official source confirms recurring filming at the beach without supplying an individual episode mapping for this record.

Plan your visit

Build it into the day.

Meal offers another documented Burra location, while Scalloway's harbour supplies a useful town stop on the journey. Keep the castle's conservation closure in mind if adding its exterior to the day.
