How Manor Parc Country Hotel appears

Manor Parc Country Hotel supplies Gavin and Stacey’s wedding reception, according to Visit Wales. The tourism source identifies the Cedar room and some outdoor scenes, separating the reception venue from the church used for the ceremony. The actual property is at Thornhill in Cardiff, beyond the Barry locations that dominate the Welsh family’s screen geography. Its front has changed since filming, so recognition should not depend on the entrance looking identical to the version seen in the first series.

The real place

What you can visit

Manor Parc is a working country hotel with dining and function services, rather than a visitor attraction offering automatic access to the filmed reception room. A meal, stay or agreed enquiry provides a normal reason to visit. Event spaces may be occupied by private celebrations, and the hotel’s current hospitality use takes priority over television interest. Ask in advance if you hope to see the Cedar room, and accept that a booking elsewhere in the hotel may not include that access.

Ask about the Cedar room before travelling; a reception filming credit is not permission to enter a present-day private event.

Getting there.

Use Cardiff Central as a mainline rail gateway and prebook the onward taxi to Thornhill Road, with the return arranged too. The hotel sits outside the city-centre walking circuit. Ask the venue about visitor parking and allow a few minutes on foot from the agreed arrival point to reception. Dining and functions follow the hotel’s booking calendar; request a room visit separately instead of arriving during a private wedding.

Common questions

Planning a responsible visit

Was the wedding ceremony filmed at Manor Parc?

Visit Wales identifies the hotel as the reception venue and distinguishes it from St Cattwg’s Church in Llanmaes. The reception and ceremony therefore require separate location descriptions.

Can I see the Cedar room?

The tourism source names the room, but present-day access depends on the hotel and its private bookings. Contact staff ahead of time rather than assuming a restaurant or accommodation reservation includes it.

Does the exterior still match the programme?

Visit Wales notes that a new porch changed the frontage after filming. Expect the current hotel entrance rather than an exact match to the original reception arrival shots.

Plan your visit

Build it into the day.

The Parkgate Hotel provides a separate confirmed Cardiff location, but the transfer to Thornhill requires road travel.
