Cookies and local storage

A plain account of storage used by the site and when consent would be required.

01

Current position

The site does not deploy advertising or profiling cookies. The Harry Potter trail tool stores saved locations and interface preferences locally on your device. The site may count clicks to named commercial partners using an anonymous server-side event containing only the partner name, the page path and the time; it does not store an IP address or user identifier in that event.

02

Strictly necessary storage

Security, network management and a visitor’s requested preferences may require limited storage. Where it is strictly necessary for a feature requested by the visitor, it can be used without optional-cookie consent, but it should still be explained.

03

Future analytics or advertising

Non-essential analytics, advertising or affiliate-tracking storage must not be activated until an appropriate consent control is available. Rejecting optional storage must be as straightforward as accepting it.

04

Managing storage

You can remove local site data through your browser settings. Removing it may clear a saved trail or other device preferences but will not prevent access to the editorial guides.
